SFL SWOT Analysis 2024

Hasan Kalyoncu University School of Foreign Languages SFL SWOT Analysis 2023-2024

A SWOT analysis was conducted with the participation of School of Foreign Languages (SFL) students, academic and administrative staff.

The SWOT analysis for the 2023-2024 academic year included a participatory brainstorming session on the strengths and weaknesses, current opportunities and potential threats.

During the SWOT analysis meeting, it was stated that the strengths of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) include student-oriented education approach, academic staff with up-to-date methodology, supportive supplementary materials and process-oriented education system.

Recommendations included the need to update existing resources, the effective functioning of the Professional Development (CPD) unit, the number of social activities, and the improvement of the academic staff in terms of quality and quantity.

Current development opportunities include the use of innovative teaching methods and technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) integration and international collaborations.

Finally, future threats include the uncontrolled use of communication devices during lectures, the coexistence of students of different levels and the change of academic staff.

The SWOT analysis report suggests that by building on strengths and addressing weaknesses, SFL can take advantage of the identified opportunities to become more resilient to future threats and provide a better language education program for students. The proposed solutions include standardizing the assessment and evaluation process, creating a CPD unit, inter-faculty collaboration, effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the language education process, and updating teaching materials.

This report is important as it supports the hope that by taking these recommendations into consideration, SFL can offer a more effective and sustainable language education and become a nationally and internationally recognized school.
